In January 2006, shortly after handing over a pile of money to get my real estate license and join every association possible, I started looking for a way to actually make money in real estate. While putting together a network of potential clients and researching marketing strategies, I discovered BPOs. I figured I could make a couple hundred bucks and pay for my farming mailers. So I started compiling a list of BPO companies and signed up with every single one I found. Within a few days of signing up with my first company, I started receiving and completing BPO orders. I made $1250.00 in my first month and in hindsight, I had no idea what I was doing. Since then, I have performed hundreds of BPOs, taking notes with each lesson learned and adding to my list of "good" BPO companies. I classify a "good" BPO company as one that places orders and then pays for work performed. Those are the ones you'll find on my BPO list. For me, BPOs have been a great stream of consistent income between and during sales. The flexible nature of BPOs allows me to accept orders when I have time and decline orders when I am too busy.

About a year ago while doing some research on what I thought was a BPO company, I discovered the Field Inspection industry. It's such a natural compliment to BPOs that I signed up for all the companies I found. I find Field Inspection work easy and straight forward and though there isn't a larger opportunity as with BPOs and REO listings - they are quick, easy, and flexible. It's another good opportunity to make money! Since I started performing BPOs, I've had so many real estate agents ask me how to get started, I decided to create my Step by Step Guide and make the information available to everyone.
